  • Environmental decommissioning of 112,00 square foot facility
  • Pre-construction chemical waste and waste materials inventory
  • Flushed floor drains, sumps, process trenches, oil/water separators and maintenance pits with flowable grout
  • Demolished/dismantled interior structures
  • Concrete roof restoration and wall repairs

VIASANT was contracted to perform the environmental decommissioning of this 112,000 square feet former Engineering and Training facility. The general scope of work included cleaning and decommissioning the sites process drain and oil water separator systems, decontamination of various heavy and specialty automotive equipment, dismantlement of equipment, interior demolition services, and site-wide industrial cleaning.

In addition to demolition/dismantlement, VIASANT performed a comprehensive pre-construction chemical waste and waste materials inventory to enable proper segregation, classification, and ultimate off-site shipment and recycling/disposal of flammable liquids, refrigerants, oils, and rinseate.

Specific scope items included the flushing of all existing floor drains, sumps, process trenches, oil/water separators, and maintenance pits prior to in place closure with flowable grout. The process drain trench closure work was followed by the dismantlement and removal of existing equipment remaining in the facility.

Interior structures demolished/dismantled include multiple paint booths, non-load bearing walls, vehicle diagnostic units, and large diameter elevated exhaust ducting. Historic use of automotive lift equipment required the excavation and off-site disposal of TPH impacted soils.

The majority of demolition was conducted by utilizing a combination of man lift equipment and other light machinery in order to both mechanically and manually dismantle structures in a manner that would not impact the facility superstructure.

Restoration of all areas disturbed by equipment removal and demolition activities included concrete repairs, roof repairs and the repair/patching of any wall penetrations left exposed as a result of removal activities.
