VIASANT was contracted to perform decontamination and demolition services for one of the oldest glass furnace complexes in the U.S.
Pre-demolition activities required substantial decontamination and ACM abatement for primary and secondary structures.
Decontamination work addressed heavy metals laden (Pb, As, and Cr) ash and residue from the facility’s main furnace (H-Furnace) and adjacent structures.
ACM’s that were removed included pipe/boiler insulation, transite board, firebrick, floor glazing and tile.
Primary demolition activities included the H-Furnace, bag house, fuel oil AST farm, pump house, two multi-story warehouse structures and eight other supporting structures.
