VIASANT has recently completed site remediation services  as a subcontractor in support of a design- build remedial action project in Summit, NJ.  The project required the excavation and off-site disposal of As and PaH contaminated soils, and capping/cover of impacted soils outside of the primary facility footprint.  The source removal phase of the work required multiple surgical excavations and hand digging due to the presence of utilities and plant infrastructure at this active R&D center.

The cover system installation required the installation of demarcation fabric, select fill materials, and a final vegetative cover.  The majority of the cover system was installed on steep slopes requiring the use of a geostythetic stabilization grid to avoid excessive material erosion over time.  All slope stabilization work required a detailed traffic control plan (County Approved) and continuous traffic controls as the work directly impacted county routes. The final restoration work included landscape restoration of the disturbed areas with select deciduous trees and  a crown vetch and early emergent seed mix.
